The Oshkosh Corporation Asia Team Helps Spread the Word on the Importance of Literacy

In 2015, the Oshkosh Corporation Asia Team volunteered to help build an environment that encourages and enhances the awareness of childhood literacy through the Smiling Library Organization. During this volunteer event, the team learned skills on how to approach students about reading. They helped facilitate hands-on activities and also assisted in cleaning and decorating the library where the event was held.

The Smiling Library Organization focuses on promoting and spreading children’s literacy and development. The language experiences that children have before they start school forms multiple and powerful brain connections. These connections are used for language, thinking and understanding. Without activities like talking, singing and reading, the brain doesn’t develop this rich network of connections.
